Bobbi Brown Metallic Eye Palette - It's a NO!

It's finally here! The limited edition Fall release from Bobbi Brown is finally in Kuala Lumpur!

Over the weekend I went to the local Bobbi Brown outlet at Midvalley to try out their latest collection of metallic eye palette. Bobbi Brown eye colours are always the matte type, and the metallic colour release was a bit surprising. Usually it's think Bobbi, think natural (or boring). But I guess BB had to do something to retain their marketshare.

There are 4 variation of the limited edition BB Metallics Eye Palette (retailing at RM 150, or USD 46):-

1. Midnight Metallics (Blues) bobbi brown - midnight
2. Forest Metallics (Greens) bobbi brown - forest
3. Burnt Sugar Metallics (Golds) bobbi brown - burnt sugar
4. Velvet Plum Metallics (Purples) bobbi brown - velvet plum

Only the Midnight Metallics and Forest Metallics appealed to me, so I had the very kind BB makeup artist test them on me. (also because I kiasu want a free makeover lah)

And my objective views:-

1. Colours viewed on palette is different from colours when shadow is applied on eyelid. For example, the darkest blue from Midnight Metallics look very royal when on palette. However, when on my eyelids, they appear to be too dark, dull. In fact, both the darkest colour on the Forest and Midnight palette appeared to be closer to black colour, when applied on my eyelids.

2. The shadow appear to be less shimmery on eyes, than on the palettte. It is kinda dull, really.

3. Shadow is extremely pigmented, and may fall all over the undereye area. Need to have intensive clean up after putting shadow on. Very messy and difficult to clean up.

4. Not suitable to those with dry eyelids. I have dry eyelids (no eyecream /primer) on the day I tried on the Bobbi Brown Metallic Eye Palettes and at one point, the shadow turned out to be spotty on my eyelid. There were spots and uneven colours over the lids. According to the MUA, this shadow is not easy to blend, not for those who are new to makeups.

So did I buy it in the end? Of course not. Which is quite sad, really, because I was hoping to get some new makeups, and the packaging for the Bobbi Brown Metallic Eye Palette are terribly gorgeous...

Well, don't just take my words, go out there to test out their products. Hurry, because this is a limited edition item :)
