Love this cornerless eyelash curler!!

This eyelash curler is suitable for crimping your real lashes together with false lashes as it is cornerless or edgeless.

It is better to use this 'cornerless' curler curl the false + real lashes since it won't ruin your false lashes if you crimp them wrongly. That happened to me sometimes when I use the normal eyelash curler like Shu Uemura and did not manage to put all the false lashes into the curler, resulting in some parts curled high and other parts crimped down.

It is also good for those hugeass dramatic lashes that probably won't be able to fit all into the 'mouth' of your normal eyelash curler.

Look ma, no edge!

The other black strip at the bottom is an additional rubber strip that you can use to replace the one on top when the old one is exhausted from use.

You may need to get used to using this for a bit, but it is all great after you've gotten used to it!

I got this for RM 5 (USD 1.50?) at a beauty show, but you can get this at your local Sasa or Shins. I also saw some in Shins Midvalley for maybe RM10-20.

Those who love to shop online can buy it at Onotoko for USD 7.50 (They do international shipping).

Get it!! You won't regret it!

How to Hold a Great Makeup Party.

You need:-

1. A bunch of crazy makeup lovers!

2. A treasure chest of makeup!

3. And of course, yummy food with lots of calories for breaks in between!

The Details

Early last week, Paris, Audrey, Ringo, Karen and I attended a makeup party organised by Maybelline exclusively for us. This being the first time I’m attending a makeup party, I braved myself to go out without wearing any makeup since I was gonna have to remove all of them later anyways if I do put them on. I think I scared quite a few people on the way to the makeup party. Thank God for hugeass sunglasses ala Paris Hilton.

The time was 3 pm on a lazy Monday afternoon. While everyone else was toiling away at work, us girls were being little girls playing with mom’s makeup again. My excitement got hold of me when I first saw the makeup box. You would too if you were there! Lipsticks, mascaras, eyeshadows, foundations! You name it, it’s there. I was literally stuck to the makeup box, nobody could pull me away :D I mean, look at the stash!

Maybelline Water Shine 3D Collagen lipsticks in 12 shades. This is the Star of the Event.

More Maybelline lipsticks.

More Maybelline lipsticks & lipglosses.

Maybelline Eye Studio Eyeshadow quads.

Karen said that she didn’t really know how to put on makeup other than the usual foundation, so I offered to do her eyes. We used green palette on her (1 o’clock at the pic above) and I thought the colours made her look really good! Later I found out that she loves green eyeshadow and has a lot of them. Talk about hoarding, man. hahahhaha

Anyways, check out Karen’s eyes. I did one side and she did the other side so that she could learn how to do it. My only gripe about the makeup party was that they didn’t provide us with any brushes other than those that came together with the makeup. This is the best that I could do with the teeny weeny brushes. :(

While I was doing Karen’s makeup, Audrey and Ringo did their own. Look at Audrey’s mouth when she’s applying mascara. Does your mouth get all distorted when you’re doing your liner or mascara? LOL don’t get angry, Audrey, everyone does it unconsciously!

After doing Karen’s makeup, I demanded for some pampering of my own. Look at Audrey, so professional right!! Ringo was the appointed ‘makeup consultant’. Ha ha

After a while Audrey got bored of pampering me and decided that she’d rather make herself look gorgeous instead, so she JUST WALKED OFF with a Maybelline Water Shine 3D Collagen lipstick and left me to do my own makeup. To put it in her usual slang, like wtf!!! How can wtf wtf wtf wtf!!!

So poor me had to do my own makeup… :(

While rummaging through all the makeup, we found few bottles of nail polish. I didn’t know that Maybelline made nail polish… anyhow, Ringo got conned into painting my nails. LOL she’s really into nail art anyways…. right Ringo??

Anyways, here are some photos of us after putting on all sort of stuff on our faces, finished with various shades of the Maybelline Water Shine 3D Collagen lipsticks. Pretty or not?

Ringo (AFTER)

Moi (AFTER)

And now the part that people usually don’t show… the BEFORE pictures!!! Okaylah, I don’t wanna be mean so I’ll just post my BEFORE picture, okay?

And to counter the effect of the above photo, here is a nicer photo of moi and Karen. All makeup used are from Maybelline.

And one final photo of us (L-R, Audrey, Ringo, moi, Karen). So what do you think? Maybe we are born with it or maybe it’s Maybelline? ;)

Terima kasih Maybelline for throwing us the great makeup party. More more more! We is love makeup!!!!

Linked: Askmewhats

Askmewhat belongs to Nikki, a really sweet happy go lucky chica from Philippines! I mean, I could feel the vibes all the way through the Internet!

Nikki loves makeup, and is well known in the beauty bloggers neighbourhood. Go to any beauty blog and chances are you'll see her giving her kind comments there. Yep, that's how I would describe her, sweet and kind.

Anyhow, if you love all sort of girly stuff, go to her blog, you'll find it there! Makeup, skincare, nails, hair...

I didn't go to the Estee Lauder WH Sale...

....but yet my gorgeous gorgeous sister bought me stuff... is she sweet or is she sweet? I know... *sigh*

BTW, my sister had to wait for 2 hours before she got in at 10 a.m and by then everything already kena sapu by all the other kiasu fellas. Apparently a lot of the staff were holding back some goods for their friends/family members. Terrible right.. but it's okay la, who am I to complain..

MAC Authentics Face Palette. This one is okay...I don't usually buy MAC, but I don't see MAC coming out with too many combined palettes? That big slab there is a blusher (Uniquely You). The rest are eyeshadows (Total Bliss, Moss Spot, Blackberry)

Estee Lauder Graphic Color Eyeshadow Quad in Urban Metals (08). Nice. I like this one very much!

MAC lipglosses (top to bottom - Bazaarish -my fave, Lull, Nice Buzz). I like the colour selections but the fragrance turned me off a bit. The beige one has a really strong vanilla smell to it. Is it normal or has it gone bad? MAC experts please let me know ya!

YAY to new makeup!!

Review: The Body Shop Vitamin E Gentle Facial Cleansing Wipes.

Do you commit the ultimate makeup sin of not removing your makeup before going to bed? I do it... sometimes. Well, sometimes it's because I'm just too tired (or mabuk hur hur), but many times it's because I'm not at home and do not have access to my makeup removers.

YES, NOT REMOVING MAKEUP BEFORE BEDTIME IS BAD BAD BAD!

Been wanting to try out those facial cleansing wipes for some time since it's suppose to be really easy, just wipe your face and go to bed. So I finally tried it out, and let's see how effective it really is!

The facial cleansing wipe that I used was:- The Body Shop, Vitamin E Gentle Facial Cleansing Wipes. It claims to be "One step cleansing and toning to remove makeup, impurities, and dull skin cells. With Vitamin E antioxidant protection. Suitable for all skin type."

There are 25 towelettes in one pack, and at RM 25 per pack, this means that each towelette kaching is RM 1. Cheap or expensive? I think it's okay for occasional usage, it's not like I'm gonna use these wipes everyday. So, does this cleansing wipe does what it claims, and would I use it every time for makeup removal?

First of all, the towelette is the size of a tissue paper. I like the size of the wipe - it is big enough for me to wipe my face. In fact, what I did was fold it twice to 1/4 its size and wipe, change side, wipe change side. The smell is not overpowering for me, even though I do not like products with fragrance.

Tissue vs Facial Wipe. Clean

Tissue vs Facial Wipe. Used.

I used one towelette to remove a full face makeup (foundation, blusher, eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, and lipstick) and this is the result.

  1. It does not effectively remove eyeliner & mascara. Well, I didn't rub too hard at that area, but it managed to remove most of the eyeshadow, and some eyeliner. The waterproof mascara stayed on. This means that this facial cleansing wipe must be used together with an eye makeup remover. Well, they didn't claim that this will remove eye makeup...
  2. Everything else *seemed* to have been removed. My face feels nice and soft.

So to test whether the cleansing wipe really removed all traces of makeup, I used a toner on a cotton pad and wiped my face as I normally would after cleansing.

Clean or not? Turns out that one towelette is not sufficient, because... all traces of makeup is removed only after 5 times of toning (as a test). Perhaps I should have used 2 towelettes instead? However, one towelette should be sufficient for light makeup user.

Is this facial cleansing wipe gentle as it claims to be? Well, at first my face felt nice, clean and soft but after a while it felt a bit tight, so I had to put on some moisturiser. (- point) I actually anticipated that the facial wipe will make my face feel itchy (maybe just a bit) but it did not! (+ point) Perhaps someone can share their experience if they've tried it and found it to be harsh or not suitable for sensitive skin.

Would I use this product again? Sure, when I'm too lazy to do the usual cleansing ritual. But I'll be sure to have my eye makeup remover and moisturiser in place, and I'll definitely have to use at least 2 towelettes to remove all traces of makeup.

Update: Sana Pore Putty Makeup Base

A little update on the Sana Pore Putty Makeup Base

  1. Don't use the makeup base when you haven't slept the night and have crap skin. My skin was really terrible as sleepless nights = dehydrated skin = peeling skin = flapping skin on my nose after using the makeup base.
  2. If you have sensitive skin (usually red and peeling), please don't use this product, you'll only exaggerate the flapping skin.
BTW, this is what happened: Put on the makeup base, then foundation, and realised that it looked too matte (not enough sleep la!). My entire nose was peeling...skin everywhere, my mouth area looked so dry... this doesn't happen often since I have oily skin.

How I solved the problem: covered my nose to utilise the moisture from my palm to kinda tone down the dryness. It helped a bit, and then my oily skin took over and everything is fine again.

I guess I raved about the product too early. Doesn't mean I don't love it, just that I won't use it if my skin is real dehydrated.

BUT THE OVERALL RATING IS STILL GOOD, BECAUSE... IT KEPT MY FACE SHINE FREE FOR 8 BLOODY HOURS!!! I normally start to shine like 3 hours after...

And here's the back portion in Japanese, for whoever who's interested in ingredient or whatever it is at the back.... and whoever who can read Japanese...

Review: Sana Pore Putty Makeup Base

Omg omg omg

Few weeks ago I finally got to try out the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer and it was amazing! After trying it out I was contemplating ordering it over the net, but hesitated after taking into account the high shipping cost to ship to Malaysia.

THEN I WENT TO SASA IN SINGAPORE, TRIED OUT THIS MAKEUP BASE FROM SANA CALLED PORE PUTTY AND OMG IT HAS THE SAME CONSISTENCY AS THE SMASHBOX PRIMER AND IT FEELS EXACTLY THE SAME AND IT WORKS THE SAME.

This is the Sana Pore Putty - Makeup Base. The texture is somewhat dry but slippery and can be applied easily.

Sana is a Japanese brand, kinda like Majolica Majorca. Sana products are made in Japan, and I like it that way.

  1. Claims to cover pores - Expectation met. Pore visibly smaller, less visible.
  2. Keeps shine off - Expectation met. Applying Sana Pore Putty Makeup Base lets my face stay matte for way longer than previous one used- Laura Mercier Foundation Primer.
  3. Makeup last longer - Expectation met. Because it keeps shine away, you do not have to blot as often, makeup does not run and stay beautiful even longer!
I LOVE IT! I LOVE IT SO SO MUCH!

Very suitable for people with normal to oily skin. NOT suitable for those with dry skin. It will make your skin look even drier. I learnt it the hard way last weekend during a shoot.

And it is not expensive either. It retails at about S$ 18 (after conversion, less than RM 50). I don't see it at our local Sasa...

Would I buy it again? Hell yesssssssss

*Edit*
An update to my experience with the Sana Pore Putty Makeup Base
